Lol you got me with few region restrictions, wish you the same (never had this sort of key before with all countries N/A but i guess it's like when indiegala says warning this game will just activate in the country of purchase) !

Just for your information and for others who might read this. That seemingly dreadful notice "No cross region trading and gifting" doesn't mean a region lock. It means that if you have the game in your inventory as a gift item, you can't give it out of your country (whatever country you have set in Steam as your country), neither as giving the item in a trade, or sending it as a gift. You can't also buy it in the store as gift for someone outside of your country. That's all. If what you have is a key, that notice doesn't mean the key has a region lock at all. The key could have, or not, but that notice in particular usually means that specific sub has no region locks; as if it has region locks, that notice shouldn't appear.

it's that all countries prices are N/A on https://steamdb.info/sub/468032/
while i thought i would get this lovely sub https://steamdb.info/sub/589814/
So i guess my key can be activated... everywhere or just where i live (yes just in my appartment). There is no in-between.
As always thank you very much for your useful explanations, i won't take a risk with this specific key but that's an exception as i never got this sort of key before, in the future will try to avoid these keys.

Again something that looks dreadful but it's not so bad. Lack of all prices means that the sub is no longer sold. A key can be activated on a country without price set AFAIK. I see people asking friends to buy them a game because there's no price set for e.g. Australia.
But I'm not sure of that for a key, maybe someone else with better knowledge can confirm either way, make a thread about it and we'll get out of doubt. I wonder why we don't have a little FAQ thread about region restrictions and some of these infos and tricks.

About the JMM72 super method mentioned in the starting post, do you really see the sub which the key would activate, or is it the sub which you already have?

The only two-and-a-half ways to know the sub a key will activate is:
- Trying to activate yourself with one of several methods (SteamDB extension is great), but you risk activating the key. If the sub only has one game and you have it, it should say "product already activated" and the key will still be valid and unactivated; while SteamDB or whatever method you use will still tell you the sub. If the sub has more than one item, the key will activate, adding all the content to the library, even if you already have all that content. So, this method is only for specific cases and you must be careful.
- If the key comes from a bundle, go to the SG thread of that bundle and see if people have shared which subs are activated in which regions, and you're in one of those regions.
You can also know if you know the exact content that the key will activate (a game, a game+ost bundle, a dlc pack), and in the SteamDB page of one of the items, or all of them, only appears one sub. But SteamDB is great, yet not perfect. It has subs indexed but with unknown content, and there are unindexed subs, which would render this third method unusable in some circumstances.
In this particular case, Coleypollockfilet mentioned the sub the key would activate, it was not me. So ask him how does he know why it's that sub.

I'm not 100% sure but i think it's the sub of the key you try to activate.
I know it's that sub because i already had the game, so i tried to activate the key on :
https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey
and the F12 console told me that it's this sub.
But as mentioned, don't do that with the key of a game you don't already have, otherwise it'll activate the key on your account.
And if you've for example the base game and try to activate a key of a full version of the same game, the key of the full edition will activate on your account above the base game you already had, so beware !

It is the sub of the key. Also there is the SteamDB browser extension, which automatically shows you the sub and links to it when redeeming a key on https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey. Easier to use than the F12 method.

I can confirm what the others said: your sub is free of region restrictions and the key can be activated anywhere and everywhere, since the according app also has no restrictions. The "No cross region trading and gifting" is only related to old inventory gifts and a lack of price(s) only affects buying or gifting it directly in the Steam store.
So your sub is simply not being sold directly in the Steam store (and has never been, if you look at the price history graph for any of the currencies) and the other sub you mentioned is not being sold directly in the Steam store in Russia (or any region paying in Ruble) and can also not be gifted via Steam store to accounts in that region/using that currency. Key redemptions are not affected by that at all.

tbh i had seen the game was also sold on grey websites but when i checked there to try to understand, some had it global and some Russia excluded, so i thought hey anyway it's at least Russia locked

Some ways to determine region-locks
You wanna determine the sub of a key ? You can refer to JMM72 super method (just do that if you already have the game in library, otherwise it'll activate the key / don't do that with a full version game if you already have the base game)

NB. Don't stress if you can't access my current public gift, i region-locked it hard by exception cause the key had an extremely uncommon steamdb sub ID, i don't intend to region-lock all my future gifts to my country. Though if you hate my country, nothing i can do.
