In most situations, it will work. There's few games with NA-only cd-keys: Dead Island, Saints Row 4, Civilization 5.
There's also a question if your country isn't under some region-locking which could make keys not work.
As example, got through US-friend Bioshock Infinite.

Bioshock Infinite is actually one of the games I want, but I've only seen complaining about Russian region locks on that, I've been looking around but I can't seem to find an answer about other regions.

I was looking at Gamefly and they seem to have few good deals that I'm interested in at the moment, but none of the games (from what I've seen) can be bought in my country. I was wondering if the keys they provide only work in those countries or it's just a purchase restriction. The games I am looking at are available in the the Steam store for me, so it can't be that they're not available here.
So basically what I'm asking, can I ask a friend of mine in the US to make the purchase for me and send me the keys?
Just to clarify, I already have someone trustworthy who would do this for me. What I'm asking is if I'd be taking a gamble on whether the keys would work or not.
