Personally i prefered oblivion to skyrim however i really liked both games,i don't think i ever played any game that as as much freedom as the TES series.
Skyrim is better then oblivion in certain areas (like crafting, graphics, physics, dungeons are way more varied, the radiant quest system works much better then in oblivion, dragons, etc) while oblivion is better in others (better main story and secondary quests).

I'm crazy about Morrowind, that's for sure. Definitely not Oblivion and Skyrim though.

My first and only TES series i have played.
And because of it's awesomeness, i don't want to play the previous series.

If you don't like Skyrim it's probably because you're bored and you need to take a break from gaming. :P

Oblivion was horrible compared to Skyrim. Coming from Morrowind I was really disappointed what they did in Oblivion (auto leveling ftl...). The world seemed empty and very repetitive. Playing the main quest felt like being Martin's errand boy and not the hero of an epic fantasy game. The whole game has such a boring standard fantasy setting that basically kills any urge to explore. It's still a good RPG, but nowhere near Morrowind or Skyrim.
Skyrim throws a lot of RPG elements (that I love) out of the window and changes the game more to an action adventure. When I started to play Skyrim I wasn't happy about that fact at all, but after a short time the game sucked me in and didn't let me go for around 200 hours. Skyrim manages to mix an open world with two engaging main quests. There are lots and lots of places to discover and most of them feel unique and worth to explore. The guilds have interesting side quests and each city feels different. Skyrim has a vast amount of content and it's easy to get into it. While I won't call it the best RPG ever made, it surely is one of the best games ever made.
P.S. Not having 'cure disease' as a spell and limiting potion creation to stationary alchemy labs was huge design flaw in Skyrim though ;) Luckily that is easily fixed with mods.

I'd have to say I'm crazy about Skyrim because I got it for $3.24 and can't run it on this laptop, while simultaneously being unable to afford Morrowind or Oblivion (that I can run) ;) Curse ye, elderly technology!

Here are old Chapter Arena and Daggerfall fresh from Bethesda for free, for people that like older games before Skyrim or their Pc can't handle Skyrim.

I didn't like Oblivion at all. They tried to make it a medieval setting, when the whole series has always been some exotic late antiquity. It just didn't work.
Morrowind is the best of the series, even when playing it in 2015. Daggerfall was excellent, and still has the largest map. Skyrim is very fun, and has some of the best mods of the series (although still lacks anyone on par with Vampire Embrace for Morrowind).
But I wasn't thrilled with Arena...even in 1994 when I first played it.
