My point is that the skin is like the shirt you guys wear. Why wear different ones when everyone can wear the same white t-shirt? I'm sorry if you didn't understand the between the lines meaning. :P
Edit - In case you somehow still fail to get the meaning, It's because some people prefer different styles. I myself rotate between Pixel Vision and the default style whenever I feel bored by either one. It's just one of those little things like, shirts or pants, that people buy whenever they see something nice.

With the difference, that people see you outside with your different shirt. Nobody cares what your Winamp looks like. It's just to please yourself. That's not supposed to offend you, I just say how it is. I used to change Winamp skins too, and now I do it only with Firefox (a Skyrim skin jajaja).

@leo9903: I understood perfectly but, no offense, your analogy makes no sense. It's like comparing tractors and cars. I have no problem with people using skins, frankly some of the skins look very nice. Anyway, I just wondered what is the purpose of it. I personally think that it's pointless to use them.

I use pixelvision because the default one looks ugly as fuck in my opinion.

At the time winamp was so popular I tried quite a lot of skins, at something like 14 yo, but never used it for long. And in fact I don't have any skins installed for any program, I don't see the point when you only see those programs for some seconds.
Though I'm not an example for skins or any customization, I'm still using the grey-toned classic windows theme on XP, and don't really care about all the things added after (though I'm thinking of getting some new OS but that will have to wait until I totally upgrade my computer).

I normally NEVER bother with skins etc, but Pixelvision really is something. It's not just sleek looks, but improved functionality / layout / custom tweaking of UI. For example, I edited some custom ini files and styles docs included with the skin to make my font size, in chats for example, bigger and way easier to read. :D

Is it hard to make a steam skin? I'm thinking of making one for my own use.

PixelVision. But I am getting fed up of it. I might go back to the normal one, or install another.

Not because of the buttons (I'm not a big fan of the new Microsoft UI) but because it is small, slim and the overlay is simply awesome.

I thought about installing one but still haven't done it. What are your favourite skins?
