In a far-away world, two continents float, separated by a vast swamp-land. For eons, no contact existed between the two continents because ships couldn’t sail across the expanse. At last, when the historic first contact was made between the two powers, war erupted!

After long and costly fighting between the Fou Empire in the west and an alliance of countries in the east, both sides exhausted all their strength and resources. With no other alternative, the two powers agreed to an armistice.

One year later, Princess Elena vanished. She had been traveling in the east from town to town, exploring battlegrounds and visiting war veterans. Her trail vanished in a small town near the front line. Nobody knew her whereabouts!

The Eastern Alliance wanted to avoid sending a large army to the front. Such a move would be a political blunder, breaking the armistice and stirring up hostilities. It became impossible to carry out a large-scale search for Elena. Time passed... with no sign of the princess.

Elena’s sister, Princess Nina, finally makes up her mind. She leaves on a journey in search of her sister – by herself.

The fact that this game was released over the GOG Dreamlist is a good sign. We can see it's not the most voted, probably the most technically easier to bring. But this give us hope for some other games.

Holy crap I still get goosebumps from the intro. Probably one of my all time favorite games, the amound of time I sunk into it on the PSX is off the charts. My backlog might not allow me to play it anytime soon but this is a game I'm happy to buy full price, and on GOG, which is even better. I hope they keep bringing back classics to be playable on modern machines!

Haven't played the series, but this looks really pretty. GOG doing great job, as always.

The franchise IS good. I can't say anything about the last one on the PS2 as I never had one though but the first 4 were great games. The second being the best.

Why would they use bilinear filtering on the textures like that D:
BoF4 has some of the most beautiful pixel art textures ever used in a video game, to see them smeared like that feels like some sort of crime against the original artists.
The en-shitification of retro-game textures like this happens way too often in these re-releases.

Ugh you're right, the piss filter makes another victim. Why do publishers insist on that garbage when scanlines look so much better on old games :/

That filter is an utter blight on classic JRPGs, I hope the person responsible for creating this horror gets to wear glasses that makes everything look as awful until they finally recognize they made a monster and have to issue a public apology >_<
