I wanted to play the guitar and piano, but they didn't teach that in school o I started learning the cello Instead, but I quit because i had a really mean teacher. Then I tried to learn another instrument I dreamed of playing, the flute, but wasn't allowed to because my lips were too big. I then made a rash (because of my crush, why else) decision to learn the trombone, which I really hated. I eventually quit that and music entirely. I still love the cello and want to try learning it again, but they're expensive af. I was given a starter guitar to learn last Christmas, but It didn't come with any tuning equipment, and I can't do it by ear. I probably would have found a way to overcome this, but I'm too embarassed to play at home, and much more interested in the cello.
So my dreams of being a famous artist aren't gonna happen, although there was never really much of a chance because i had awful motor control, couldn't read notes, and couldn't tell what notes were what. Practice and effort can only make up for so much talent, and had little of either.

There are a ton of options for guitar tuners if your phone does apps. :)
Best of luck on pursuing the cello though -- it's a beautiful instrument!

Eh, I was fortunate enough to have parents that fully supported my musical education (that is, until I began to make a career of it).
Started drums/percussion at 10 , clarinet/sax at 12, guitar at 15, bass and piano at 19. Started playing in bands when I was 14 (not as much anymore, though) when I joined a country band of guys all over the age of 40 (except me, the 14 year old on drums -- should have seen their faces when I walked into the audition!). I'm a metalhead at heart, but have played in just about every kind of band there is (except polka!).
Unfortunately, I fell into drugs and alcohol and quit playing shows years ago to clean up. I still practice drums and guitar 4 hours/day every day, though.
Anyway, me on drums when I was 25 O.O https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLwfggohtoQ

If you have ever felt sad because you did not know how to play an instrument / sing, be happy you're not these guys.
