Narrative: One Piece. It's been airing for 25? years now and despite the pacing problems its had (fishman island thru dressrosa had issues, I consider everything after fine), I still look forward to watching every new episode. By simple virtue of adapting what I consider the most epic modern work of fiction, it wins.

Variety: Saturday Night Live. No doubt here; it has a similar pedigree (50 years!) and though it's fallen out of favor here and there, it's the largest comedy work in history and I dare say never actively bad, just less good at times.

Rome (HBO). I rewatch it every year or two and it still holds up after 20+ years

There can only be one? That Highlander series was pretty bad.

Too complicated for only one.

Looney Tunes
X-Men The Animated Series
The Simpsons
Batman The Animated Series
Animaniacs
Robotech
Saint Seiya
Dragon Ball (Nothing beats Goku as a kid. Japanese, english and spanish language is good).
Ranma 1/2 (Latino dub)
The Maxx
Jackass
Wildboyz
Crank Yankers
Wonder Showzen
Neon Genesis Evangelion

X-files (first season)
Married with Children
24 (first season)
Star Wars: Andor
The Mandalorian (first season)
Euphoria (Thanks Xarabas).
Narcos: México (as much as this hurts internally)
Fallout
True Detective (first season).
Walking Dead (first seasons)

I may have missed many things I can't recall. I havent seen a lot of stuff that's like the Holy Grail of series, like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Better Call Saul and probably never will because they're huge already.

Yeah, well. Best is still subjective so in these types of situations i just list my favs. GoT for example has a (very) good IMDB rating but it just feels overrated to me, so, it won't make it to my toplist altho it has its (quite few) moments.

  1. Lost
  2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  3. Angel
  4. Person of Interest
  5. Dollhouse
  6. Stargate SG-1
  7. The Lost World (1999)
  8. Star Trek Enterprise

In order of greatness. Lost keeps you hooked like nothing else out there. It's ambitious, creative, and a unique experience. Buffy has the best characters and stories ever put on television, and just behind it is Angel.

It's rare to see people including Enterprise over the other Star Treks on these kinds of lists. Was also one of my favorites from them tho.

I'd put Stargate Atlantis over SG-1 and I'm not too familiar with The Lost World other than looking similar to Xena/Hercules. But hey great list :p

If you like Stargate or Star Trek Enterprise, you will like The Lost World! One of the eps is actually written by Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi!

I think you may be right that Atlantis is the better show; in my mind I lump the three together mostly (Universe is good!)

It's impossible for me to declare anything as "the best" to me because it's so dependent on so many things, but here some favourite dramas across all genres, of shows that have completed their runs:

  1. The Wire
  2. Babylon 5
  3. Star Trek:Deep Space Nine
  4. Cadfael
  5. The Prisoner (1967)
  6. Star Trek: The Next Generation

Same with comedies:

  1. Blackadder
  2. Monty Python's Flying Circus
  3. Seinfeld
  4. Arrested Development
  5. Star Trek: Lower Decks
  6. VEEP
