Clearly not, as the single running GA I have is made a week ago :)
Oblivion was TES IV, the menu screen started by the IV appearing in obl-IV-ion.
It could be the 6th game, as the roman 6 appears in the same word - Obli-VI-on.

I want to type but just being a remaster, boo. I paid for the game on Xbox back in the day, not paying for it again just for nostalgia factor...

As long as they don't get Patrick Stewart to redo his lines, they don't try and mess with any of the plot and characters and it's on mobile* then I'd give it a look.

*That was a joke.

Personally I'm more interested in Skyblivion, the unofficial remake using the Skyrim version of CK. I think the official remaster is for Oblivion fans who want to play the exact same game they played 18+ years ago, but with the graphics they imagined it had when they were kids.

I've never played Oblivion as a kid so I don't have any associated nostalgia, I've played Skyrim, Morrowind, and all the Fallouts before Oblivion. I first played it last year and while it was a good game overall, I really can't agree with the common sentiment long-time fans have of it. Skyrim improved on too many aspects of Oblivion, even if some were downgrades.

The random, non-quest driven exploration, which I thoroughly enjoy in Skyrim and Fallout 4, is severely lacking. Melee and archery combat are worse and simpler than in Skyrim (and yet it's always dunked on for being crap), and most quests were not that interesting, I would say on par with Skyrim or even FO4. Only thing that I thought was objectively superior were guilds and their questlines, in Skyrim they're far too basic and isolated from the rest of the world.

Since the official remaster is meant to be identical in terms of content and gameplay, with only the graphics improved, I'm hoping that the remake will take a bit more risk. Pretty sure they've redesigned most if not all dungeons to make them more fun and worthwhile to explore, so that's already solving a big con from the original. Plus it will work with Skyrim mods, which is nice.

Which probably means, that if you may ever want to play the Oblivion, you should get it right now, before it's retired from the store and replaced with the remake with all it's bugs and unasked for "improvements".

Not before another 3 skyrim remasters, remakes, improvements, re-releases, ports, whatever, but don't worry they'll get to it. Somehow it's gonna end up being worse than the unity daggerfall.

Anything to not release TES6.

It's something, but I'd prefer they made games instead of copy pasting their old ones and up-scaling textures. Chat GPT Ghibli TES AI mod when?

Definitely not hype, but I'll play it eventually. Tried the original twice, got gamebreaking bugs both times (probably because of an ungodly amount of mods), will give it another go when (if?) the remaster is released.

Eh, Oblivion doesn't need a remake. The original holds up very well, and there are all sorts of mods if you don't like the leveling system or stuff like that.

I want to give a proper go for the original for a good while. Still want, the only thing I've seen is high fidelity, and a super sharp change in visual representation. Changing the vivid green environment to an autumnal yellow is just off... Not like I'd pay 50-70€ for it, especially in what state new games are releasing. I hope it's good thought, because if the price becomes right, I'll buy.

Interesting I suppose but doesn't strike me as a must-have personally. Oblivion is the only TES game I played where I couldn't do an initial vanilla playthrough, at the 3/4 mark I tossed aside my game and restarted with mods to fix alot of the problems I perceived. Graphically I thought it was fine, still holds up decently enough with mods 🤷‍♂️. I suppose that means an engine update for Morrowind is out of the question 🥲. Not surprising, I admit modding it is not a as simple as it was. Mind you if they really want my money they should remake this Terminator games they made in the 90s, I'd buy those.

Though like many I can't escape this feeling that there's something else that Bethesda should be working on 🤔.......

That makes more sense. Still, my colleague showed me the leaked images earlier, it doesn't look too different from her high end modded install 🤷‍♂️. And if it is just a remaster then most of Oblivion"s underlying issues will be there still, that said if they included something like the changes from the unique landscapes mod then that might get me more interested.

What did catch my eye though was Deluxe edition on one of the images, which I really hope is just a marketing gimmick because I really couldn't believe they'd try to nickle-and-dime a remaster of a near 20 year old game 🙁. Or maybe I shouldn't be surprised (is that Skyrim Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious edition I see over the horizon?)

When it was released soaround 2006-2007, on physical edition.

Maybe your point is the correct one, as an entry point to open world rpg, Oblivion was probably not so bad.

While Skyrim certainly had its moments, I found it ultimately felt somewhat bland and derivative compared to its predecessor. Oblivion, on the other hand, truly captivated me with its livelier world. The quests, particularly the main storyline, felt significantly more engaging and original. And let's not forget Jeremy Soule's absolutely brilliant soundtrack for Oblivion – it added so much to the atmosphere. Visually, Oblivion's more saturated color palette was a welcome contrast to Skyrim's often overwhelming greyness. Finally, the Shivering Isles DLC for Oblivion was a masterpiece in itself, offering a unique and memorable experience that Skyrim lacked.

I can't understand why everybody calls this a remaster. It's a remake in another engine and assets are re-created e.g. doing away with the sameness of cave and temple layout in the original.

It is contract work from Virtuos, Singapore a studio you may have never heard of but is a 4,200+ strong company according to their home page so more like a game published by Bethesda.

While you're kinda right, it's funny because even bethesda calls it a remaster. Probably because it's truer to a remaster than a re-make.

The dev team themselves said they use the original oblivion engine for all logic, and ue5 for everything else like visuals. Basically they used ue5 to port the game to better graphics, but core mechanics are run the same due to the oblivion engine.
source

One thing I noticed is that while the beginning cinematic has more detail, it feels souless and super gray and faded everywhere compared to the original. Like you can feel emotions from the first cinematic even just from how the camera moves. In the remaster, they just got it to work and pushed it out. Maybe they'll fix it over time.

After seeing some game play I've to correct myself. I thought the whole game was ported to UE 5 while I now know the game logic runs still on the old creation engine. Seems like nothing but a new coat of paint was applied and thus I agree with the remaster designation.

Thinking deeper about the odd pricing structure with Euro prices 20% higher one could conclude they fell victim to the current economic developments and the quick nosedive of the Dollar.

I know its big RPG game but for remaster thats just over the top even for me. But guess they gotta keep prices high to incentivise gamepass more.

A 20% higher price for Europe is a slap in the face. They can shove their precious contract work up to where the sun never shines. Will be waiting for a 4.99 sale.
Edit: like others mentioned already retail stores offer the game for about 39 €.
