Why do I like it ?

I love tactical games , and this is a great one.

Yes, FTL is a "really good game".

It succeeds in providing a real emergent experience, meaning that after playing for a few hours you will have hundreds of stories to tell of your adventures in deepest space.

The game mixes strategy, adventure and RPG elements perfectly, providing the player with an exciting blend of all three.
It is often called a 'Roguelike' game, but really the only similarity between FTL and Rogue/Nethack, is the random placement of items and locations which give the game an element of luck.

It is cheap and will provide you with billions of hours of addictive fun. Why you are still reading this and not buying it (I suggest either from GOG.com or direct from the developer for that DRM-free swag...) is anyone's guess.

I only got to the 3rd or 4th 'galaxy' map....I kept going back into the dark field too many times... Very nice tho strategic.

I enjoy it for several reasons. Great Soundtrack, strategy, random generation so it doesn't feel the same every time I play it. It can be played easily in times when I don't have much free time but it can be addicting enough to keep me playing it for hours. It's just a fun game to me.

Quite an addictive game with very good mechanics, fitting music, challenging encounters. It feels great when you finally unlock a ship you've been searching for a while.

It isn't a genre or game type that everyone would enjoy, but I think it is objectively high quality.

I like it because I can do it while doing other things, like watching streams, or browsing forums, etc. similar to the Binding of Isaac.

The game itself is fairly low-impact in terms of user speed, and is almost entirely about tactics, strategy, understanding, etc. which is a nice change of pace from most of the games I play these days.

It`s fun to play from time to time.
