I've got mixed feelings for mankind:
-)We're killing ourselves and the wildlife, the only reason our technology is like this is because humanity thinks only of war and we've been causing the extinction of a huge number of species
+)We've evolved with the times, when the ice age came, we survived. When the plagues arrived, we survived. Wether it's floods, droughts, famine or sickness, we always, ALWAYS make it out alive. We evolve, we mutate, we change in order to adapt to everything...

Humans. Name one thing we've actually contributed to the survival of the Earth.
No, don't count "going green". We're simply rectifying our own destruction in that regard.
Something where we aren't fixing our destruction, but where we helped the ecosystem of the Earth in general to maintain survival.
We didn't.

meh, we can't destroy/ruin the planet, we jsut can kill us all, and some flora and fauna... the planet will still go on... thousands of years and the planet will be ok again... and after thousands of years more, maybe another animal evolve enough to star the circle again...
that is gonna happen over and over.... until our sun destroy the whole planetary system :D

We are the dominant force on this planet, and while you are typing this on your computers and laptops, remember that millions of trees died to bring us what we have today, and without those deaths, we would have nothing.
If we would really want to help the planet, the most we could do is die out entirely, or do something so radical to our current lives, that the world as we currently know it would slowly fade away. Sentient races will always destroy nature, for it is needed for the progression of a species. You all complain about Humanity destroying everything they touch, yet you completely disregard the fact that you're typing this on a computer which is connected to a central generator likely powered by a fossil fuel emitting power plant. I acknowledge the face that Humanity is destroying Earth, but we must in order to progress. If you really cared about the environment, you would try to preserve it as much as possible (renewable energy, etc etc...) Until we get to a point where we can build without emitting gases that hurt the environment in a practical manner, or cut down trees, or anything else, it will be as it always has been, and nothing can change that. Have fun poking holes in my logic guys :)

Then insects (and similiar creatures to them).
