I plan on using steam summer sale to get me some 4packs to gift in the future. Even tough I never win lol.

I get the games I gift from a Nigerian prince. Unfortunately he can't gift them himself because he lost the password for his online-banking account, so I buy them myself to gift them in his name and he sends me a million dollars every few months via snail mail. Unfortunately the first mail was lost (such things can happen, Nigerian post office isn't organised very well) but the next one should arrive soon.

I'm not sure how many people buy games specifically to give away, but some probably do, especially with the $1 minimum indie bundles (because they're so cheap). Others probably get them for free one way or another, or end up with extras from purchases they make for themselves. For example, I bought the Potato Sack Reunion bundle on Steam a few days ago, but already had two of the games in it, so I ended up with one extra copy of each that I gave away here. I don't think that happens with Steam purchases normally though, so this may have been a special case, but you get the idea.

I get my games from 3rd parties, sponsors or the likes. If I already own them, whats the point? Sometimes I get some via doubles like steam packs that put what you already own in inventory or the three4free from AMD for spending $500+ on a new GPU... minus well go to a person who is appreciative. Other times? I buy multiple copies on sale or packs and then I forget I own them.. or trade up.
