Do You Bump?
- think they contribute or help in some way
- spam to +1 their comment count
- being annoying
- put important threads in the first page (they don't realize if everyone did this, none will remain for more than 10 minutes on top, there's a reason threads drop off the first page and die)
all the above.

Because it's very nice and pleasant to bring up enjoyable posts! ^^

For events and forum giveaways (trains, etc), bumping is a courtesy to maintain the visibility of the thread. The creators of threads often ask people to bump if they participate in any way.
At other times, such as for a really good sale or other kind of time limited deal, people bump to make sure that other people see the post and can take advantage of whatever bargain is available.
There are also accidental or clueless bumps such as when someone responds to a long abandoned or obsolete thread.
Those are just three examples. There are all kinds of reasons for bumping, some better and helpful, and some worse and annoying.

I see people saying bump all over the discussions, what does it do? I also see people adding there own style to it like "~Bump" or "Buump" which makes detection harder, so I think it is just commenting.
