This guy is pretty funny, after I wishlisted & followed his game, he just blacklisted me in return.😕

I don't know why, maybe an April Fools event?
But being disappointed by this, I had to temporarily cancel his wishlisted & followed and add him to my blacklist.

I went to your Steam wishlist, searched for ‘Haydee’ there, and found nothing. Could be the reason, do you think?

They might have blacklisted you for any reason they want - that's the purgative of blacklisting.

Personally I'd say they might want to revamp their entry requirements for that particular GA as they look to be against the rules of SG.

I hope they're not associated with the actual game being listed as that's atrocious PR.

Yup, against the rules but unless someone wants to write a 3000 word essay explaining how to the moderation team here and wait for that support ticket to be duly dealt with we'll just have to wait and see how Lady Luck rolls for them :)

Or alternatively I'll get hit immediately for pointing out the fact that this is a well known occurrence as can be seen with a GA that has been in existence for 3 weeks now :p

I don’t see a rule that’s broken, can you enlighten me?
I believe making developers interested in gifting their games to us is a good thing. Advertising WITHOUT ANY giveaways is what’s bad.

Hey man, the moderators are here to answer questions like that (Or not).

I think that it's against the rules here as it if enforcing conditions which go against them.

If you want a candid philosophical discussion about it, it can't be here. People with fee-fees get easily offended when you point out their (in)actions.

What is wrong with that Haydee 3 GA?
I don't see anything.
The wishlisting thing is for group/whitelist GAs.

The following is the listing in the GA linked to in the OP:

Notes:

Make sure your wishlist is public, so we can review yours
If you remove the game from your wishlist, we'll remove you from our white list too
You can check if you're added to our white list by visiting this giveaway

You still haven't said what is against the rules.
Those GA links are for the Whitelisted people, the original GA runs without restrictions.
Edit:
Just saw your reply to Masafor.
My point still stands.

These are are wonderful points LittleBibo1 and I'm sure either the person who made the GA, the person complaining about being backlisted for some reason or part of the moderation or administration team here are more than happy to go into details about how, what, why and when and where any of this is, or is not, against the rules.

My statement:

Personally I'd say they might want to revamp their entry requirements for that particular GA as they look to be against the rules of SG.

Still stands.

The moderators here are very careful to make sure that people who don't have English as their first language can access the website in an informed capacity and so grey areas like nuance, inference and humour are preferred to be kept to a minimum (If allowed at all) and so cultural appreciation of that may seem, to you, to be fairly fine may not to others.

I happen to be one of those others :)

That careful balance of community engagement and exploration of opinions lies not at my feet.

As far as i am aware, from older posts, he always whitelisted the ones that done the wishlist and follow for the game.
Because a good part write they done it but not done it, most devs/publishers don't check such stuff so i assume they expected it would not be seen/checked, he changed maybe his action from "remember them to follow the steps" to "blacklisting" in some cases. I seen remembering messages, so maximum a part get/got blacklisted.

"Whitelist to join our group, we keep an eye on our members and make sure they stick to our rules!" is one thing.

What is being stated in that GA is over the line and goes against the rules here on SG.

If they want to make a GA on SG open to the public (To increase their membership with their rules enforced) they need to adhere to the guidelines for making a GA on SG open to the public.

They can do what they want off site and blacklist who they want here. SG rules only for SG.

I don't say that he followed all rules on sg because i am unsure about it and it isn't my job to decide.
Plus i like that he done GAs and checked if the users lied/tried to cheat to come into his WL and not believed each "done" without a check.

Maybe he only made a mistake with clicking BL instead WL, if the infos from the OP are correct (we can't check this).

All in all in don't see a reason for a "shitstorm" or a "witch hunt".

And sg have much bigger problems that should be solved as how someone manage his WL after creating GAs to do so

Agreed.

And that is why OP and everything to do with this "shitstorm" or "witch hunt" should never have made its way into general discussion.

Atrocious marketing is my only thinking. Either for the game, the group or personal reputation.

As others have said, maybe he just did it by mistake.
I was also just asking questions and stating that what I did was a "temporary" measure. That's why I thought putting the topic in the "Help" section would be more appropriate. Because I'm not on a witch hunt, I just want to know what's happening.

I still don't want to believe that a game developer is going to gamble his reputation on such egregious negative marketing.

Its not really against rules, you can blacklist anyone without reason. Also it is unlikely he will, cause limit is 1000 users. Considering he is also blocking his access to their giveaways, its fair.
But if devs has to enforce wishlists of game by blacklists, I am curious how bad game has to be...

in the hopes that will prevent them from winning your GA is most likely against the rules.

That is your interpretation.
I don't see this backed somewhere.

I see that he blacklisted the ones that tried to sneak into the WL with not doing the requested things but write "done" or undo, instantly?, the steps after they got added to the whitelist.

The BL have no influence on the entered public GAs, a BL don't kick someone out of a entered GAs, and have only influence on the communication, which mostly mean the winner couldn't send a thanks after recieving the key.

As fast ideas:

  • Under a comment that he wrote somewhere
  • Steam
  • Maybe a email adress that the dev have posted somewhere? The most do this in their group and/or curation. I don't checked if he done it too.

So they suspended the gifter for two weeks, and nobody still clearly explained what rule is broken by setting a whitelist condition.

More as 4x longer suspended as users that autojoin.

Good that they set the priorities very good /sarcasm + irony
It will motivate him for sure to create more GAs in the future /sarcasm + irony

I would like it soooo much if the really bad ones would be punished, and then much harder, instead of little fishes/for small stuff.

Sometimes it is hard to look at this clusterfuck/shitshow on sg -Facepalm-

As far as i know are demanding a task, like whitelisting and following a game, on sg not allowed.
Had he said he add each one to his WL that WL the game, without demanding it as task, he would had maybe not recieved a suspension.
