Interesting to read that even back then SteamTrades was already enough of a clusterf*ck for it to be referred as having a cesspit, that letter was written long before even CG gave up on moderating that site.

I remember that for a time SG and ST were merged into a single site but that kept causing issues (of the users misbehaving kind) so eventually they were separated once again and later CG just straight up automated moderation on ST so it could mostly run itself. Then a few years later someone suggested the button at the top linking to ST be removed from SG entirely and CG surprisingly agreed.
SteamTrades seems to still be chugging along after the divorce (and restraining order) from SteamGifts but I think most of us who where mainly into SG have abandoned ST.

So SteamTrades was bad even when there was moderation? Interesting. I guess it must generate enough revenue for cg to justify keeping it online.
