I only have a couple sets... They're super expensive here/for me.

Check your local marketplace, facebook or ebay or whatever you use for second hand goods in the area.
Sometimes you can find bulk lots of lego. 5-20 kilos. It's worth checking out if you just want a LOT of lego.
The downside is that some bits might be missing, and you have a massive puzzle (which is fun) to figure out what sets are in the lot.
IF you are lucky, the owner kept the instruction booklets.
If not, the first step is finding the minifigures and seeing what sets they belong to.
Often you also get some fake lego, playmobil, or just other random toys in such a lot. Those go in the "resell later" bin. :)

About a full room, while packed.
Currently half this room, and most of the attic.
Unpacking - just,. isnt feasible at this point.

That's about 1/3

It looks - but needs a lot of work still sadly.
Also it's ever growing XD
I did just add darkmode to the app, and been working on the initial release being able to create it's own database and fill it with the basic (required) database values from rebrickable. It might be a bit slow for the first launch, but itll work.

You are good with most chinese replicas too. They are way better in quality than they were 5-10 years ago.
Aliexpress choice is where i tend to find some good deals, but i guess temu and friends would work too. The good price is at least third of the comparable lego set. Common tripfals are: micro size bricks instead of lego size, and similar sets with much lover brick count. Once you figure it out it's pretty well priced.
Yeah, i know not everyone is ok to buy from china, but i'm poor and i have a kid. It works.
And btw all the favorite sets of my son are from china.

Nice. We have a good sized multi-generational collection, but we keep it mostly in 4 huge boxes sorted loosely by type, and some tackle boxes for small things. Right now Mario is taking up a shelf, but we change it out for holidays. I put up some shadow boxes from the thrift store with a few layouts and that works great for keeping dust off.
I really want to try making a book insert kind of Lego build, saw some cute ones of little city vignettes about the size of 2-3 book widths... But then I'd have less space for books. :D
I like your organizer tool. Makes a lot of sense if you build a certain organized way.

Cool! Thanks for sharing. I used to have a ton of legos but left them behind when I moved to another country.
My nephew and my niece are very crafty though and I have been buying them sets. And while they are not at a crucial unmanageable point in their collection, it's great for me to be able to remember what they have and what they might need.

Cool! I'll check this out for sure.
I had a huge Lego collection as a kid that got passed on to younger family members after I moved out on my own. I got back into them during the pandemic, originally with restoring classic space sets from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. More recently I've gotten into MOCs and some of the modern expert-level sets. My collection has grown faster than my space to display them....

So, I've been working on a little UI, inspired by Rebrickable.
You can make lists, add lego sets to the list, add/remove/query and generally just make a big ole archive of what sets you own and what boxes to find them in.
It's still in development, but it's open source and you can look around the code if you wish.
