In your video drivers software(Well at least with Nvidia) there should be a desktop size a position tab, inside that you can fiddle with the overscan until you get it right.

My laptop screen resolution is 1366 x 768 and it looks fine but when I plug my HDMI cable into it and try and use it connected to my TV the sides are all cut off. What should I do to resolve this?
