Buying a 3DS with digital games installed.

A friend of mine is going to buy a preowned 3DS and the seller says it has 5 games installed. I've told him to be wary about it since now with the integration with miiverse you need your own account to access the eshop. Will he be able to play those games or will they be gone the moment he creates a new profile?

I think it's a little too risky. You'll need access to their Nintendo Network (assuming they made one; if they didn't, then I'm not entirely sure of how digital game transfers work).

Don't buy a preowned 3DS! I have one and you should only buy one if you can get an extended warranty. The hinge probably will crack.

My original ds is still fine after all these years, and my 3DS is 2 years old and kicking. It depends on how you treat them.

A friend of mine had that issue too but the issue I've been more worrying about is the raised frame around the lower screen can press into the upper screen and wear lines into the 'glass' but that should be pretty obvious to see.

Edit: I found the option to erase your Nintendo Network ID (it was kinda hidden) and it says you won't be able to use or download those programs anymore. I guess he will have to use the same ID if she gives him her password. What about unlinking that ID from her Nintendo Club account? It seems that there's no problem about doing that.

Well, the option is not really hidden. I've expected to find the option to delete the Nintendo Network ID in the Nintendo Network ID Options xD

Yeah, but since it's a new thing, I expected it to be inside the eshop, or inside other options in the configuration menu (didn't realize they added a new option in the upper part of the touchscreen.)

If the seller gives him the password for the Nintendo Network ID that is associated with the games it's no Problem.
But your friend have to use this ID including the Nickname of the preowner to play that games. He can't use his own ID or delete the previous ID without deleting the games.

Edit: He just have to go to the e-shop and unlink the Club Nintendo Account and can than enter his own one.

I think he needs the password to erase the ID too. Are you sure the games use the ID nickname? The 3DS has his own nickname, and most of the games ask you to enter a nickname when you start them.

He don't have to erase the ID. He can just format the 3ds, that resets all Nintendo Network ID settings.

Well, in the end he managed to get a price reduction just in case the games didn't work, and he got the password, so now he has a 3DS XL with 5 games, and he paid 135€.

The games will be installed into the SD memory card, he can just remove that card and use another card for his own nintendo network ID.
But if he makes another ID in the card that has the games installed, he won't be able to play them.

He always have to format his 3ds when he wanted to switch the ID.
There is no other way to change it.
