For the reason forums exist.
To socialize, usually with other people with the same (or similar) interests, through the internet.

Personally? It's simply because the Steamgifts forum feels definitely more familiar and friendly to me than other forums. I enjoy speaking with other members of Steamgifts about gaming, medias, the internet, and potatoes. We joke around, and most of everyone here aren't overly serious or overly silly/trolling. It's a community about giving, and although there IS the usual beggars/greedy scumbags/trolls/dumbasses, I feel that there are far less of them than other forums or online communities I have visited thus far.

Also, I'm not a very social person in real life. The people here on Steamgifts are all my special bunch of great friends who are willing to help me when I need help (yes, it has happened multiple times in the past, and the forum users here on Steamgifts often helped me more than they would ever think), helping me fight against a somewhat-depressed mood I sometimes sink into, helping me make decisions, helping me with mostly anything I needed help with in the past year or so.

TL;DR: Steamgifts is my home.

We humans have no "higher" purpose than insects or any creature whatsoever, and any human endevour is totally pointless in the long run.. cynical? bitter? no not at all actually. What does anything we do matter in 100 years or even 50?. So I can spend my time here or I can stand over there.. it does not matter...
