SHOULD I BUY OR SELL?
Sadly, thats the case with any "virtual" market. Most people are so eager to sell quickly that undercutting goes out of control.
Back when the trading card deal was in beta and the number of users with access was limited the prices were more stable and prone to stay higher.
Once it went open to the public it was a matter of time before each card dropped down to nothing.
Even foils are losing value, my latest foil card was priced exactly the same as the regular variant of its type.
Suffice it tot say for future reference. You're generally best off selling right away as prices are most likely to drop once more people get them and they undercut to sell theirs off.
Its also a clear indication of why Valve will never allow users to sell their steam library contents to other uses in a market fashion as the same would occur. Best hopes we have if courts force this issue is that Valve will "buy back" at a percentage rate for store credit.

I'd say its more a matter of mindset than pure volume.
People rather having a little bit today than wait for a little more tomorrow.
You got it for free anyway right? ;)

Nope, profit counted from the full retail price and the gem cost from the market. The only game I got for free that made me some profit on boosters was Life is Strange, but the card prices there eventually reached the booster crafting cut-off point, which is quite normal. (And that was before Square bundled it twice at the end of 2015.)

I meant the fact that people undercut. Thereby driving prices down rapidly.
They reason since they get the cards for free, anything they get is a gain.
Much like the same reasoning is applied to gathered resources in MMO's.
So you see a strange disparity in "value" on markets. As people try to offload what they have as soon as possible for the lowest current price.
Unlike you, who clearly try to max your gains by playing the cards that have not yet plummet into the abyssal depths of valueless junk. ;)
The difference? One reasons that if you wait a bit longer you get more, the other reasons if you just drop a bit lower you get it sooner. The flaw? Instead of being the only one to drop, dozens people drop 'a bit' lower.

While your sentiments about people trying to drop is true, there is a larger force behind the low prices, the laws of supply and demand. Not many people craft badges, and especially for games that have so many cards dropped– usually the cheap bundle stuff– the buyer market is just so insignificant that the sheer oversaturation kills any price.
On the plus side, if one does make a badge, it is dirt cheap. :D

They should. These events are the only decent way for some people to get free levels; if one got all cards and traded the duplicates, they could earn 200 XP in the event. It is not much, but it was free, and could potentially introduce some people into card trading, which is just free money for Valve. If they would have restricted the card amounts a lot more, it wouldn't be nealy as profitable for them.

Holiday sale cards, just wait and they will do stuff

If you get more, sure. Because more crafting. There are rumors that the event this sale will be related to crafting since flash sales won't happen.

I've only heard rumors. Your information is news to me. They were just brought up because clearly nothing related to voting and flash sales this year with the refund system now in place.

The event might also be related to how much you craft. Won't know until it happens though, because we don't know the future.

I have a bunch of mystery cards I've gotten as a gift for crafting on Steam.
