November in New York City. Days are ominously warm, we're still regularly going up into the 70s (Fahrenheit) and the city smells of smoke from brush fires. Last night we had the first rain in a month. At least the nights are occasionally getting cool, as they should this time of year.
This is an old key, newly revealed, and it should work fine. If you have trouble with it, please let me know.

Nice description of the atmosphere there! Reminds me of this underappreciated and nowadays often forgotten magic of the internet where you can have personal contact with someone from far away.
BTW I heard about the recent lack of rain there, glad there was at least some of it now.
In my home town in southern germany it has become cold just recently, and it's getting dark early, trees are shedding the leaves and it'll be freezing temperatures in the night soon and we'll need our winter jackets during daytime also. I always have to adapt to the thought that darkness doesn't mean we're anywhere near the end of the day now. Going to work when it's still dark and coming back from work after it got dark is normal for many people.

I spent a couple of years in Berlin back before the capital moved back there, and I well remember the dark winters. We heated with one of the old charcoal ovens, and I never really got the hang of it, so it was mostly chilly in the house. If I remember right, Berlin is roughly on the same latitude as Boston, so I was familiar with the long winter nights.
