My favourite mythological creature is the siren. I can't really explain why it's my favourite, there's just something very enchanting about them.

Uhm hard question... I'd go with dragons, migthy beasts which have something graceful about them, but that's to common. ;-P
How about Jörmungandr... the world serpent from germanic mythology, a giant snake which has the entire world in its grip. :-D

Dragons. They're about as varied in motive and behavior as Humans are, they don't fit into just one category like most creatures of legend.

The sphinx, because of its duality and wisdom.

I like many mythological creatures but my first thought was Cerberus. Why? Well, long ago, when I was a kid and first my mom, and later I by myself, have listen/read/watch anything related to Greek mythology, this animal always had this 'something' that somehow fascinated me. It was ferocious beast, so unreal but still kinda easy to imagine. For some people it was just a monster, mindless three headed dog that was guarding underworld but for me he was something more. Instead of jailer for dead souls I sw him more like a protector of living ones. He was guarding people from dead ones, who might have casue some problems in living world.
With my english, I'm semi good with descriptions, I hope that you understand why I was trying to said ;)

Rübezahl - a gentle, sometimes rough giant in German folklore. He's just a nice and kinda complex character ^^

How about those imp like creatures that haunted the lives of so many poor characters?
"Merrily the feast I’ll make.
Today I’ll brew, tomorrow bake;
Merrily I’ll dance and sing,
For next day will a stranger bring.
Little does my lady dream
Rumpelstiltskin is my name!"
