Malwarebytes isn't an antivirus, it's technically an anti-malware program... it even states it in its name "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware". Malwarebytes should be used along with an actual antivirus, not alone.

Yes, that's true, but that doesn't change the fact that there is a difference between the two programs. They aren't the same thing.

As Lucifera already said, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not a substitute for antivirus. You can ask Malwarebytes support and they'll tell you exactly that.

I did aswell, but I bought it long time ago, when it was a lifetime licence. But even though now it's a yearly (?) subscription, it's still very much worth it.

You can use your brain and that helps a lot, but web browser and many internet programs are always flawed by still undiscovered security holes. An antivirus can help you a bit here.

True, the more layers of security you have the safer you are, but on the other hand if something is undiscovered then you don't really stand a chance against it.

I agree MBAM is a handy utility, perhaps the best malware scanner/remover, and one of the first things to run if you suspect something shady, but it isn't an AVS.

correct, it isnt. I think ppl getting confused with the filesystem protection and malicious website blocking it gives when you install mbam with defaults. It turned on those 2 protection things on every system boot.

I got Anvi Smart Defender , and malwarebytes .
Seems to be doing the trick for me.
Also have AVG , but thats just getting ran once a month .

ESET was the best anti-virus out there. Like, a decade ago. Before their lab became an expert on reporting three-month old viruses that have already been weeded out by others and facebook scams.

Strange. I either hear Kaspersky is the best thing out there or that it is impossible to get rid of. Yet I also hear BitDefender is lightweight because it actually does nothing but has a better marketing than McAffee to keep it on top of antivirus comparisons.

ESET is a good virus engine, but it's actually a terrible program. I've seen it cause tons of conflicts, it's a resource hog, it can sometimes lock people out of their computers, and I've often seen it refuse to uninstall. If I have a computer with a problem I'll gladly run their online scanner, but I stopped recommending the program.

I'm using Comodo + Chromodo browser... but I found it a little bit buggy on Win7 recently (comodo sandbox exactly). It's good.

Was using Opera (old version 11.00 or so... for the whole life, but it's not supported since like 3 years, they just jumped to their 19.0 or 20.0 it sucks anyway don't remember ... I'm using Chromodo only like half year). Never could get used to Firefox... I know chrome is nothing good, it eats RAM like crazy, but I like their profile customization, that I can connect it to my mail and load settings everywhere.

Another problem with Chrome is that a lot of its add-ons have adware or even malwave and they track everything you do. On Firefox I don't have to worry about that, as long as add-on is marked as verified I know it's safe.
I really love customizing my browser so Firefox is the perfect choice for me.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but I think you can create account for Firefox and then use their sync feature to load your settings should you install Firefox on another PC. How much their sync feature does I can't tell as I never used it.

yes, I can complain about some things in Chromodo, but I can't say anything bad against Comodo antyvir, it helped me once where avast/norton/avg couldn't do anything, so I'm still sticking with it.

Bitdefender atm cause i found it on a very good deal. Was using ESET.
Kaspersky is the best i have tried but it's expensive and this is the reason why i am not using it in the last 3 years. Any free antivirus is junk
