I've personally enjoyed Amanita Design's point and click games. Samorost 1 & 2, Machinarium and Botanicula are all excellent games. I'd go as far as to call Machinarium one of my favorite game of all times. It definitely makes it to my top 5. It never ceases to amaze me how the game manages to create such a sad atmosphere with no narration or dialogue, and I absolutely adore the main character. It's beautiful.

A recent game I played is The Journey Down: Chapter One. You might want to get it now that it's cheap since you'll have to buy the subsequent chapters separately. There will be three or four chapters in total, I think. It took me 2 hours to beat and it was a lot of fun in my opinion. It wasn't too hard but challenging enough to make it worthwhile.

To The Moon is a fantastic story in an 8-bit art style. The Dream Machine is more puzzle based and a little creepy, but also a great story.
