Trading currency basics

Hey guys, can you quickly explain to me what are common "currencies" used in trading?
I know what steam cards and gems are. Know that TF2 and CS:GO keys exist, but have no idea how to get them.
And finally I have no idea what TOD and REF are :?

Tod = Tour of Duty (TF2 Item)
Ref = Refined Metal (TF2 Item)
TF2 = Team Fortress 2 (just in case XD )

They can be bought from the market or in-game
TOD is tour of duty ticket and ref is refined metal
Not sure of the conversion as it fluctuates
