Some games get removed because Valve removes them (The Stomping Land), and others because the project itself has failed. Another reason is a publisher not renewing a license ( the Deadpool game).

But would you want to maximize profits on the way out and get people interested in your game one more time since a lot users buy games that are being removed.

because theres NOTHING in it for them. if they're no longer making money from it (ie not renewing licence, or because the game has failed), why would they invest time and effort into publically telling people they're no longer selling it. They certainly don't expect it'll start a mad rush of interest, because if people DID care about the game, they wouldn't be pulling it from stores.

But on steam a lot of users collect games no longer available and that is a market they could make a lot of profit on the way out.

Maybe they're ashamed? Or want to do it covertly so there is no backlash? I have no idea.

Cause it's not important, why a game, which will be removed, should announce it? So they need to explain "why", and that's a thing dev's never gonna do, cause they are scared to loose more users then :p
better die quietly then scream it, just my thoughts

Because either
a) the game was not popular in the first place and the only people who would want it then are collectors and resellers
b) the game is taken down because of licensing issues, and they could be in a bit of a pickle if they go "we can't sell this anymore, go buy this quick plz"

So never understood why devs never tell us when they plan on removing games from steam despite it being able to bring up big sales before they go. Anyone know why they don't announce anything or they just bad a business lol.
