If you picked up In Stars and Time from the Armor Games Bundle, it's a perfect time to grab the prologue

I thought prologues were free, like a demo so you can test out the game. Not exactly my cup of tea to pay for a demo.

No... prologue is just a word that means introduction, beginning or preface.

In this case Start Again is a self-contained game. It's not a demo.

It's a very rare case for this to be a no. You will find thousands of free prologues vs idk how many paid prologues you can find. Especially since this is a $11 1-2 hour game.

There isn't much difference between a prologue and a demo. A demo is defined as "a demonstration of a product or technique.". In video games, they have almost exclusively been introductions, beginnings and prefaces to video games. Like, 99.9999% of the time. I don't know if you can even find a demo that doesn't fit the term prologue.

The terms are interchangeable in the video games industry, but it's just a fancy word to use to try and add value to something that should have none, as the intent of a demo/prologue should be to attract customers by giving them a chance to try out a product before they commit to the full product.

Plenty of companies wont charge you for physical testers if you're a big enough brand, as they are hoping to get your business, but if they are themselves high on the ladder they might charge just to maintain their elitism. I can't say I know of cases where you are charged for digital testers other than this for instance. Adobe wouldn't charge you for a 30 day trial.

I get where you're trying to go with this, but at the end of the day, it's a demo in terms of video games. It's been that way for like 50 years now. No reason to attempt to distinguish it as some more extraordinary work than a demo, because it's not.

PS: Steam actually took a stance against this practice, and while they still allow devs to name their demos "prologue", they removed the linking from descriptions for this exact reason, and encouraged using the demo's feature.

It's really not just a demo for ISaT; this is more of a first draft attempt at making a video game that later was expanded on when the creator felt like they were capable of it. I'd actually argue this original game sold the emotional core more believably to me and is worth playing from that angle!

I played In Stars and Time before it was bundled. I really wanted to play this one but wanted to find a better price for it. Thank you for the reminder!
